Russell served as a producer for NBC Olympics in Sydney 2000 and Salt Lake 2002 and has created feature content for industry heavyweights including ESPN, CBC Olympics, Quokka Sports and ABC Sports.

He created two broadcast series for CBC, and worked as an executive producer of three long-form documentaries including Unbroken: The Snowboard Life of Mark McMorris — that earned a special screening at the renowned Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
